B&M Wing Coaster

So since the first Wing Coaster opened at Gardaland in 2011 the B&M Wing Coaster design has proved to be very popular with the theme park industry currently there is 7 Wing Coasters (5 Operating and 2 under construction) but the real point to this topic is that why do you think the design has become very popular, yes it still could be an early day fad but considering it has already equalled the B&M diving machines in only two years, I highly doubt it is a fad trend.

We shall have to wait and see on this. Personally, I doubt they are a fad and should still be popular for a while. If they are a fad, they certainly won't be a quick fad and will still be getting built for a good few years to come.

I don't see the Wing Coaster design as a fad, it is a genuine piece of engineering, as I've praised before because of the way the seats are level with the track and not above the track, which gives the real unique experience of the Wing Coaster design.

I don't see them as a fad either. I bet this initial enthusiasm for them will die off soon but They still will carry on to get built slowly. I bet they will end up something like 1 getting built every other year or something like that.

I have been on a B&M winged coaster, they are fun to ride as far as I'm concerned. Fad or not, nothing is popular forever but they will still be the best coasters of their age in my opinion.

Agreed with Doomega. Every so often, there is a huge fad that everyone knows about and is loved at the time but they soon die and fade away like it never existed. Anyone remember when having charity rubber bands on your arm was the height of fashion around 9 years ago?

I still doubt wing coasters are a fad though.

They still are in some places, and I would love Thorpe to do some for their coasters, but they may come soon, as I am pretty sure Alton have done one for The Smiler.

Anyway going back on topic, I still don't really think they are a fad, sure all coasters can fade into the background but its the legacy these coasters will leave behind which will be really affective, as there is no real competition.
