Coaster Zone: The Rollercoaster Social Network

Thorpe Park is a theme park located in Chertsey, Surrey, England, UK. It was built in 1979 on the site of a gravel pit which was partially flooded, the intention of creating a water based theme for the park. The park's first large roller coaster, Colossus, was added in 2002. In 2007, Tussauds was bought out by Merlin Entertainments, who now operate the park on a lease from Nick Leslau.

Brilliant park with brilliant rides.

Random bit of info. This park and Chessington's roles were originally meant to be swapped with Chessington being the thrill park. They then realised after about 5-10 years, that Thorpe was in the better location to be the thrill park and had less restrictions so they moved most thrill rides.

Thorpe Park has an amazing line up of coasters, of the amount it has. A lot of people complain that Stealth is way too short, though it is around 12 seconds from beg. of launch to the brakes, though a drop tower usually lasts under 4 seconds and nobody complains about the REALLY short duration. It's odd that thrilling but short coasters have more "complaints" than thrill rides that are EVEN shorter.

Yep, I'll agree there.

The reason why Thorpe gets complaints aimed at Stealth is because it is extremely short and normally has 2+ Hour queues. rather than Detonator which normally has 10-15 minuet queues for a much shorter ride.

I never queue for drop towers. I love them but IMO they're too short to queue for.

Though it has brilliant rides, IMO Thorpe has a lack of atmosphere. It's just a concrete field with some rides. Very, Very good though.

I think Experiment 10 will be returning this year as Thorpe uploaded that video fairly recently.

Thorpe Park has now got two rides that will be down for Refurbishment, Slammer and Samurai - This means allot more preasure will be placed on the other rides for this years Fright Night.
I was told Samurai and Slammer may reopen for Fright Night, if it is done in time, but I highly doub't it because Samurai was being taken down - I will upload some pictures at the Weekend.
