The Bat Returns!

Thirty-three years to the day it was first introduced in 1980, The Bat will fly again at Kings Island. The park is changing the name and colours of the Flight Deck roller coaster to The Bat. The change will take effect for the 2014 season. The new colour scheme for The Bat will feature orange track with two shades of charcoal for the columns and structure. Black will be the featured colour of the trains.

I saw this on the RCDB Facebook page and I think this is a great idea for the park. Shows the owners carer for the parks history and heritage.

Yeah it definatly shows Cedar Fair's interest in the heritage of their coasters, just like how they did with the tribute to them all in the Kings Island Banshee promotional trailer.

Good idea! I was one of the few people who actually rode the original Bat and I absolutely loved it. It was so out of control, I'm not surprised that it tore itself apart.

Oh Wow, you were lucky Kumali. Epeccially considering it was only open for 1 season and was down for most of that. Did you plan to go for that or were you generally in the area for something completely different?

It does look really, really nice in those colour schemes and I think it is a very nice tribute to the legacy of the orginal Bat rollercoaster.

That does look nice. Orange can either look really good or really vulgar when used like this. It's the former here and actually looks really nice.
