In all fairness to Towers and Gerstlauer at least this year we haven't heard much majour news of The Smiler being down due to issues that it had in the first season. I am still holding off my trip to Towers till next season anyway just in-case. Due to how well Colossus has been running this season, I personally feel that The Smiler will feel noticeably rougher.

Hopefully it was just (major) teething problems with Smiler. I don't think it will feel much worse than Colussus, roughness wise. It's a bit rattly in the most forceful bits at the most.

Saying that, the dive loop after the first drop is very rough at the actual inversion part.
